What's the point of such agreement for smaller economies, if they have something worth trading they could probably sell it anyway. For larger economies they use FTA to off load stuff they probably couldn't through any other means.

Of course if you want to be more technical there is this thing called the "balance of payments". Rodney's claim that Australia's exports to the US are only 41% of the value of imports from them must still stand. This certainly doesn't indicate a balanced relationship.Dave Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12428353657153292616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3612441315352179822.post-4665095482209449132012-12-28T10:52:35.658+13:002012-12-28T10:52:35.658+13:00No, his own reference states an increase of 2.5 %....No, his own reference states an increase of 2.5 %. You may be right that exports to the US may have actually increased but it does appear that imports have increased at a faster rate and there is still an imbalance.

Dave Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12428353657153292616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3612441315352179822.post-46894596688708923682012-12-27T12:07:43.692+13:002012-12-27T12:07:43.692+13:00Australias exports to the US grew, and did not dec...Australias exports to the US grew, and did not decline.
